Brand: Dostmann Electronic
The 5020-0840 is an ultrasonic flowmeter for application outside the duct for flow measurement in liquids with impurities of less than 5% and a flow rate greater than 0.03m³/ h, such as water, glycol, oil and chemicals. Perfect instrument for investigation of flow speed on all kin of pipe material (metall, plastic or ruber). Measuring range -32 to +32 m/s.

UMI 840 portable ultrasonic flow meter is designed to measure the fluid velocity of liquid in a full/closed pipe. It is a handheld measurement system which is both easy to install and use. The UMI 840 operates according to the difference in the transit time of flight measured, and determines the flow velocity by measuring the travel time of a pulse from one transducer to the next.
The ultrasonic flow meter has been developed to measure the flow velocity of liquids in pipes. The non-contact transducers / sensors are placed on the pipes and are thus not subject to any wear and tear.
The UMI 840 works with two signal transducers (sensors) which serve as ultrasonic transmitters and also as ultrasonic receivers. The sensors are installed on the outer wall of the pipe at a defined distance, one below the other.
The sensors can be installed in Z shape (Z method). In this case, the ultrasound will pass through the pipe once. If the sensors are installed in W shape (W method), the ultrasound will pass through the pipe four times. When using the Z method, the sensors are placed opposite to each other. The sound passes through the pipe or liquid diagonally. The selection of the right method depends on the characteristics of the liquid.
Flow in the same direction takes less time to travel to the second transducer than does flow in the opposite direction. Electroacoustic transducers receive and emit brief ultrasonic pulses through the liquid of the pipe. Transducers are vertically placed at both sides of the measured pipe. Sensors are placed on the pipe and fastened by means of a clamp. The display will quickly show the flow velocity. The UMI 840 can be used for metallic, plastic and rubber tubes.
